How are Skipton schools performing?

We connect you to the best teachers who work across several of the best primary and secondary schools in Skipton (some detailed below). This means we can reliably provide you with a local and experienced tutor that fits your needs.

Skipton primary school performance:

The Skipton area has 12 primary schools (one of the top being Carleton Endowed CofE Primary School with 35% of pupils achieving at a higher standard).

From their latest Oftsed report:
“Leaders have taken some steps to improve the teaching of early reading. Books are well matched to the sounds pupils know. Pupils are developing a greater love of reading as a result of leaders’ work. Leaders have introduced a new approach to the teaching of phonics and early reading. Training has improved the confidence of many staff. However, some staff who support pupils who need extra help learning to read have not been trained in the school’s phonics programme. This means that some pupils are not catching up quickly enough.”

The Skipton local authority has an average of 63% of students meeting the expected standards in reading, writing, and maths at primary school age (vs England's average of 65%). And has an average of 9% achieving higher standard (vs England's average of 11%).

The Skipton area has 4 secondary schools (one of the top being Ermysted's Grammar School with 96% of pupils achieving grade 5 or above in English and Maths GCSEs).

From their latest Oftsed report:
“The standards attained are extremely high. For example, the provisional results for 2008 indicate that 98% of Year 11 students achieved five GCSE grades A* to C, including both English and mathematics. All achieved at least seven grades A* to C. The overall A* to C pass rate was 95.7%, with 70% of grades at A* and A. The vast majority of students continue into the sixth form and go on to attain exceptionally high standards at GCE A level. Alls tudents make excellent progress as they move through the school, including the small number with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.”

The Skipton local authority has an average of 47% of students achieving grade 5 or above in English and Maths GCSEs (vs England's average of 43%). And has an average of 96% of students either staying in education or entering employment after GCSEs (vs England's average of 94%).
