A tutor is not the same as a teacher.

A tutor is a person who provides individualised or small-group instruction, usually in a specific subject or skill, outside of a traditional classroom setting. Tutors may work with students one-on-one or in small groups and may provide support in academic subjects, test preparation, or specific skills.

A teacher, on the other hand, is a person who instructs students in a school or educational setting, such as a school, college or university. Teachers are responsible for planning and delivering lessons, marking assignments and exams, and monitoring student progress. Teachers are all trained and qualified in their specialist subject and also in the management of their students.

In summary, while tutors and teachers provide instructional support to students, they do so in different settings and with different levels of expertise, responsibility and accountability.
