Tutor Moreton-in-Marsh

I have been a teacher since 2007, teaching across the primary phase, and I have extensive experience working with pupils with SEN inside and outside the classroom. During my career as well as being a classroom teacher, I have held the positions of EYFS Leader, SENCO assistant, KS1 Lead and School Leader. For the past five years, I have been working alongside GCC, teaching a child with SEN in their own home. This has been my most rewarding job, seeing the progress and daily impact of teaching 1:1. My lessons are fun and engaging, using outside spaces as much as possible. I like to ensure my learning is real and purposeful to the learner and linked to real-life experiences when I can. I am available to tutor homeschooled children or those currently out of school during the day.

Grace is an absolutely fantastic teacher! She taught my son for 2 years (Y2 and Y3). She is so conscientious and professional injecting great passion and enthusiasm in her teaching! She pays immense attention to each child whether they be in need of emotional or educational support. She naturally goes the extra mile to ensure every pupil feels happy, safe and loved. She really is one of life's most wonderful people. She has been hugely missed by all the children who were fortunate enough to be in her class along with their parent/carers too as she grew a fantastic rapport with them also. Mrs Lisa Collier

We first approached Anna when we were looking for advice on how to support our 10-year-old son, who has ADHD and Anxiety Disorder. From the outset, we felt comfortable with Anna. Not only did she listen to us, but she understood and empathised with what we were hoping to achieve, and she respected and acknowledged our concerns. Her manner and suggested approach were ideally aligned with our situation and struck a perfect balance in terms of pace and engagement with our son. However, none of this would have mattered if our son would not accept her. From her first interaction with him, we realised we had nothing to worry about. He instinctively trusted her and responded open to her engagement, listening to what she asked of him and reacting positively to her praise and encouragement. Over the last four months, Anna has built up a rapport with our son built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust. She has a way of helping him to do what he needs to do in a way that avoids confrontation and conflict, reinforces positive learning, and builds up his confidence. This does not mean she does not say no or lets him get away with messing around. It is just that she couches that control and discipline in a way that builds trust and engagement rather than one built on hierarchy and punishment. We cannot recommend Anna highly enough. She has a wealth of experience and expertise but is humble and questioning. More than that, it is crystal clear that her primary aim is to help develop our son and help him achieve his full potential. Put simply, if you are considering additional learning support for a SEND child, you should ask for a meeting with Anna. She is simply superb at what she does, and we are so grateful we found her. As a tutor, I enjoy helping young people (and parents!) break down barriers in their learning and build confidence. I work with young people from 6 years old to 20 years old. I`ve taught Maths and English from Year 3 all the way up to GCSE so I understand the likely journey a young person will need to take in these subjects. However, not all routes to obtaining the GCSE, building a child`s confidence and/or addressing gaps in learning are the same. Every child`s journey is unique and I enjoy trying to find the strengths and address the weaknesses. I really emphasise to parents of children that I tutor that this is not `more school`. I keep sessions well-paced and interactive and we work together to find a way forward. Over the past few years, I have been coaching young people aged 15-21 who need help with future planning for employment, further or higher education. I have also been teaching sessions on mental health and wellbeing.

Location
Home Tuition: Involves a teacher coming to your home in Moreton-in-Marsh to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. Online Tuition: This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Home Tuition: Offers the highest level of individual attention, as the tutor focuses solely on one student. Online Tuition: Still allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Home Tuition: This tends to be more expensive because it involves one-on-one teaching, and the tutor is required to travel to your home, in Moreton-in-Marsh. Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Home Tuition: Offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum, as your tutor will only be working with your child. Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Home Tuition: Offers in-person interaction, which can be beneficial for students who learn better through face-to-face communication. Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between home, online, or small group tuition in Moreton-in-Marsh depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
