I particularly enjoy one to one tuition as it's very rewarding to be able to really get to know pupils quickly and make a big difference in a short time. I am a highly experienced teacher of many years experience and now teach children online or at home, some to address weak areas and many to prepare them for entrance examinations for secondary education. I am a highly experienced year six teacher and am currently working in a local multiacademy trust doing catch up maths and English for year six pupils on a one-to-one basis. I'm very happy to meet you online and chat to you about exactly what your requirements are and how I can help.

I am a qualified and experienced secondary school English teacher; I have taught all years across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level. I have a strong understanding of the assessment objectives for GCSE and A-Level exams and have a proven record of helping students exceed target grades - and expectations - in their final results. I have experience with resit candidates. I have also had a great deal of experience with students with SEN needs and those who speak English as an additional language, providing flexible and appropriately challenging lessons. I have taught specialised English intervention and small group classes for Key Stage 3 and 4 students and offered 1:1 tuition, both in schools and privately. Through my work as a Key Stage 2 SAT tutor, I am also experienced in supporting primary school students with literacy and creative writing. During time spent abroad, I worked with many non-native English speakers to help them develop their English language, in particular English for business purposes.

Tina has been a tutor for my 10-year-old daughter for the last nine months and has helped with her preparation for the 11+grammar school exam. Tina was quick to assess my daughters strengths and weaknesses and identify areas where she needed the most support. She shows incredible kindness and patience when explaining difficult concepts, and my daughter always reported back to me that she explained things clearly in a manner that was easy to understand. Tina tutored my daughter for 1 hour sessions on a weekly basis and was able to cover a lot of material in that time. She did practice questions with her and gave helpful hints and tips about how to answer certain question styles. She also offered help in exam techniques. She has certainly boosted my daughter's confidence which was very much waning when she started! Tina was very flexible with tuition times and was able to offer extra sessions during the school holidays. I would certainly recommend Tina as a tutor for 11+ and hope to use her again in the future.

During the lockdown period, my husband and I decided to appoint a tutor to work with our young daughter. We chose Tina on the basis of her experience and availability to work with us. Tina was always punctual for our Maths and English lessons, and had prepared worksheets in advance targeting relevant topics to the subject and our daughters ability. Tina was extremely patient when we had technical issues on our end getting online. During lessons, Tina was very good at encouraging our daughter to try and work things out and was generous with her praise when she did and got things right. Also, Tina wasnt shy of sharing her observations with her if she appeared distracted or wasnt concentrating! At the end of each lesson, Tina gave us headlines on what she had noticed and asked us to focus on particular areas to help her eg more reading. This was extremely helpful for us to gauge her progress. In short, I would recommend Tina and am happy to answer any questions if anyone wants to know more.

Tina worked with our son Hamish from primary school year four to year six, during which time Hamish not only improved measurably in his reading, English and mathematics but also grew in self-confidence. Hamish improved on all levels from starting out as emerging to obtaining expected grades in his SATs. Tina supported us in diagnosing Hamishs dyslexia, and her patient but professional and persistent approach was definitely the key to his improvement, particularly given the disruption at school as a result of the Covid pandemic. I would be very happy to recommend Tina to others looking for additional support for their children.

Tina has been tutoring our now 9 year old in the 11+ for over a year now. The sessions are all online, but despite this potential limitation, Tina is engaging and focusses our son well, giving him confidence and showing him new methods to work out the questions. He really enjoys the sessions which not only helps with the 11+ but also with his wider learning at school, often advancing him beyond his peers. I would not hesitate to recommend Tina as a tutor for 11+.

Tina has tutored my daughter for the past 12 months. Tina has a wonderful approach to tutoring, and is kind, caring and always patient. Using an online method Tina has effectively taught my daughter both maths and comprehension over this past year. Tina consistently provides new material to work with and ensures my daughter has a full understanding of topics covered before moving on. My daughter has blossomed after a year of Tinas tuition, there has been a noticeable difference in her academic ability at home and in school which we believe is the result of Tina's support over the last 12 months.

Heidi has helped my son (Y9) with certain areas of maths that he was finding tricky. She has been wonderful in finding out where the gaps were in his knowledge, and building on this to give him much needed confidence so much so that he has asked if Heidi can come back to help him every holiday!

Lucy is an exceptional Modern Languages teacher whose guidance and expertise played a pivotal role in my successful admission to Balliol College at Oxford University. Her commitment to her students' academic growth and her unique teaching style have left an indelible mark on my educational journey. Lucy provided me with invaluable private tutoring, which went far beyond the conventional classroom experience. Her dedication to my success was evident in the meticulous interview preparation, extensive poetry and prose analysis, and comprehensive grammar work in French that she tailored to my needs. Her ability to break down complex language concepts and literary nuances made the subject not only accessible but also fascinating. Lucy Nott's personalised approach to teaching enabled me to gain a deep understanding of the French language and significantly boosted my confidence in facing the rigorous Oxford admissions process. Her unwavering support and encouragement created a positive and motivating learning environment, and her mentorship has been instrumental in shaping my academic and professional aspirations.

Lucy is an extraordinary teacher. I can say confidently that I would not be where I am today without her. She is extremely thorough, resourceful and warm. She goes above and beyond for her students she happily took time out of what I know was a hectic schedule to practise with me every morning for a month before my A-Level oral exam to ensure I felt confident. This is but one example of many. Lucy has a unique talent for blending uncompromising academic rigour with warmth and friendliness, which strikes the perfect balance between a teacher and a friend. Lucys tutoring post-school was fundamental in getting me a place at Oxford. She created a programme that allowed me to excel both in my grammatical and literary French studies in a matter of months. I have never met anyone with such a gift for connecting with students and helping them achieve academic feats they had not thought possible. I cannot recommend her more highly as a teacher and tutor.

There is no excellent learning without excellent teaching, and our teachers are expected to teach in a way that inspires and motivates. We have over 20,000 talented teachers providing tuition, chosen for their broad range of experience, professionalism, academic specialisms, passion, and dedication to their students. We only ever offer qualified teachers as tutors, as we believe professional teachers provide the highest quality of tuition.

Location
Home Tuition: Involves a teacher coming to your home in Oxford to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. Online Tuition: This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Home Tuition: Offers the highest level of individual attention, as the tutor focuses solely on one student. Online Tuition: Still allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Home Tuition: This tends to be more expensive because it involves one-on-one teaching, and the tutor is required to travel to your home, in Oxford. Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Home Tuition: Offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum, as your tutor will only be working with your child. Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Home Tuition: Offers in-person interaction, which can be beneficial for students who learn better through face-to-face communication. Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between home, online, or small group tuition in Oxford depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
