I am an enthusiastic and committed teacher with over twenty years experience of teaching in secondary schools. I have taught Latin at all levels, from beginners to Y13. I have tutored students whose schools do not offer Latin from scratch to GCSE. I have taught Classical Civilisation A level with excellent results since 2010 and am currently tutoring a Y13 student in the Greek Religion and in the Imperial Image unit. I really enjoy tutoring as as the lesson can respond to the individual learning needs and styles of the pupils, enabling them to make very rapid progress compared to a classroom. I love to teach, as connecting with and supporting young people can be so much fun and rewarding. We, as teachers, also have a responsibility to our students to do our best to bring out the best in them. I lived in France for nine years and was often asked by foreign friends to help them with their French because I have been through the process of learning French as a foreigner; I understand the process and the pitfalls. I am fluent in French and passionate about speaking this beautiful language. My qualifications are actually as a violin and general music teacher. rnI attended The Royal Academy of Music as a teenager, for six years, which helped me develop a love and respect for learning. I lived abroad for almost 30 years and have had the privilege of teaching the violin and general music to all ages. I have taught Music and a little French in UK state schools for five years.

I'm a qualified and experienced primary school teacher. I previously worked as a Key Stage 1 Teacher in a primary school in Essex, and now tutor full time. I have taught across the primary curriculum, including EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2. I also have experience teaching children with SEN and EAL. I specialise in phonics and early reading and will offer tuition for children aged 5-11 in English, maths, reading and phonics. I have also worked as a supply teacher in a variety of schools in the local area. As an experienced teacher, I understand there is no one size fits all approach to teaching. Children learn in different ways. What works for one child might not necessarily work for another, which is why I decided to offer individual tuition. Im able to offer fun and engaging lessons, that are tailored to meet the needs of the student. My lessons are aimed at building confidence and help the child reach their full potential.

Reviews for tutors in Saffron Walden

4.8

Matt was a fantastic teacher. He is very patient with students and was always willing to give extra help when a student needed it. He made lessons fun and engaging. Even when it was a more complex topic he was able to explain it in a way that was easily understandable for his students. Whenever I needed help with a particular topic he was eager to help teach me in a way that I would understand. Being a more hands on learner I definitely appreciated the extra help he was able to give me in class so that I could thrive in the classroom and use that knowledge. I do believe that he helped me become what I am today as an engineer because he made maths fun. Sabrina

Finding the right tutor is hard, it's finding a mix of them having the right skills in the subjects (or multiple subjects) the student needs help with, building a rapor so that your child feels comfortable with them, have a good working relationship and of course so that your child does well and improves in those subjects. Caroline smashed it, my son Kieran enjoys learning with Caroline in both geography and maths, he had improved loads where he has achieved better grades and gone up sets. I definitely recommend Caroline. Mr Bincalar

We only ever offer qualified teachers as tutors, as we believe professional teachers provide the highest quality of tuition.

Location
Home Tuition: Involves a teacher coming to your home in Saffron Walden to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. Online Tuition: This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Home Tuition: Offers the highest level of individual attention, as the tutor focuses solely on one student. Online Tuition: Still allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Home Tuition: This tends to be more expensive because it involves one-on-one teaching, and the tutor is required to travel to your home, in Saffron Walden. Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Home Tuition: Offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum, as your tutor will only be working with your child. Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Home Tuition: Offers in-person interaction, which can be beneficial for students who learn better through face-to-face communication. Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between home, online, or small group tuition in Saffron Walden depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
