I am a qualified, experienced Classics teacher, currently working at The Tiffin Girls School, having taught at Dulwich College previously. I have taught ages 10-18+ and currently teach and tutor Common Entrance Latin (ISEB), OCR Latin GCSE and A-Level, OCR Ancient Greek GCSE and A- Level and Classical Civilisation A-Level. In order to deepen my understanding of how to achieve the highest grades at A-Level, I have worked as an OCR examiner for two years. When tutoring, it is really important to me that each session is tailored to the individual, so that they can leave the session satisfied at having made good progress. I get a great sense of satisfaction from enabling my students to understand and enjoy the ancient languages, as well helping them achieve the highest grades they can.

I have been a teacher of GCSE and A-level Physics since 1991. I am currently working as a teacher of physics at an independent school in south west London. I could say a lot more, but I'd prefer to to use the words of a former student. I worked with this student a decade ago and they recently contacted me unexpectedly via LinkedIn and said: "I will always remember the help that you gave me in physics which meant that I could ultimately go on to my university of choice which I wouldn't have been able to do without your time and support all those years ago." As a physics tutor, I believe you would find me reliable, patient, attentive to the needs of my students, and highly knowledgeable about physics with a knack for explaining difficult concepts clearly. I would be delighted to set up a short, complimentary demo session to see if I'm the physics tutor that can best support either you or your child: please get in touch via TTYH.

Hannah worked with my son to support him in an English GCSE resit. Hannah's unique approach to tailoring lessons to my son's interests and needs meant that he found them engaging and actually looked forward to them! Hannah helped my son improve his overall score by two grades, all in a short three months of tuition. Thoroughly recommend. Mrs Cassius

Near the end of year 10, I sought Hannah's assistance to improve my GCSE English Literature and Language performance. When I initially talked to her, my performance in English was around a grade 7, and I had gotten a grade 5 in one piece of work. However, I was determined to get grade 9's in both English GCSEs and told this to Hannah in our first session together. She was encouraging and supported my goal to get these grades. In the first session, we dedicated time to highlighting my objectives, aims and also what parts of the course I wanted to focus on. This was really useful as it provided a clear and actionable timetable that we could follow, and we continued to make these at the beginning of each term. In the sessions themselves, Hannah would start with some complex vocabulary which would help improve and look impressive in my GCSE essays, they also linked to the rest of the session so that I could fully understand and contextualise them. During the sessions, she would briefly summarise the part of the text we would be analysing. Then she would provide me with a paragraph where I would talk about how I would analyse it, which techniques I would use, and context for the paragraphs. In other sessions, we would discuss essay plans and analyse previous GCSE grade 9 essays so that I could see what is needed to get the highest grades. Hannah would always provide homework (either a question/full paper from the English Language or a whole essay from English Literature), which was incredibly useful as by the time it came to the exams, I had a bank of previous essays that I had written in every part of the course, which had been marked by Hannah and so had clear feedback on how to improve the essays. Moreover, Hannah would have her own PowerPoint filled with revision material such as useful quotes, which also greatly helped. Overall, Hannah was an enthusiastic and encouraging tutor who provided me with confidence through developing a large bank of revision material and improving my overall essay writing abilities. In my GCSE's, I was able to achieve grade 9's in both English Literature and Language. Tanvi Davuluri

I wanted to write to say a huge, massive thank you. He got his end-of-term report and, for the first time, was mastered in all subjects! Both he and I want to thank you as you made such a positive impact on him, his confidence and his outlook/approach to learning!! When we talked, he really thought it was all down to his sessions with you, which he really enjoyed. Mrs P

Alam tutored my son Ollie from Year 6 all the way to GCSE Maths. He helped Ollie get very confident throughout his secondary school journey. Mrs Macgregor

We were introduced to Amina by a friend when we were looking for a tutor who could teach English to our son. We were preparing 7+ exams at the time, with top academic schools such as Westminster, St Paul's and King's College in mind. We thought a tutor would be helpful as English was our son's second language and he was a little behind compared to his peers in writing and grammar especially. Amina taught our son for about a year (2022-2023) and what impressed us the most was how organised she was. After each lesson, Amina produced a lesson log to keep track of what topics our son has been covering and what the homework would be for the next lesson. Apart from the lesson logs, Amina would always provide verbal feedback straight after each lesson and gave us the chance to ask questions and express any concerns regarding our son's progress. We also liked the way Amina handled our son. At the end of the day, our son was only a 5/6-year old boy and it wouldn't have been easy get him to sit down and work. But it was clear to see that Amina was very experienced in dealing with young children as she was patient but also firm at right times. Amina was always on time for the lessons and never cancelled a scheduled lesson throughout the 1-year period she taught our son. We feel this kind routine and continuity helped with our son's progress and from the parents' perspective, made scheduling so much easier. Our son's progress was steady and this was what we wanted and expected as we didn't get Amina in in the last minute just before the exams to shoot up our son's marks. We wanted Our son to improve his English in general and gradually build up towards the exams and this is exactly what we had with Amina. All of our efforts resulted in us accepting an offer from St Paul's Junior for our son so we are extremely satisfied with the outcome and we would recommend Amina to other students who are looking for a tutor without any hesitation. Ms Minhee Cho

My child attended the first semester of first grade in elementary school in Korea and then entered Year 3 in Primary school. My child attended an English kindergarten in Korea for three years, so communication was not a problem, but comprehension and writing were not easy. After starting to study with Ms. Amina, my child's English level increased by two stages according to the school assessment criteria within one semester. Generally, students either increase by one stage or maintain their level. My child's grammar and comprehension have become more accurate, and sentence writing skills have improved. When my child looks tired or exhausted, she notices first, which creates a strong bond. My child participates in her class with a positive attitude and likes her very much. She does not cancel classes suddenly and is always on time. She adjusts the teaching materials and homework according to my child's level. You should try it out.  Ms Y Cho

Dr Hazime is a very knowledgeable tutor in Maths and Science, particularly Biology. He engages with my son well by asking questions, writing notes, drawing diagrams and correcting answers to questions. My son's recent test scores improved following the topics covered during the tuition lessons. Very pleased to have Dr Hazime supporting my son who is making good progress. Thank you for the tutor recommendation. Kind regards, Sashi Mrs Sashikala Muzalewski

We only ever offer qualified teachers as tutors, as we believe professional teachers provide the highest quality of tuition.

Location
Home Tuition: Involves a teacher coming to your home in Wimbledon to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. Online Tuition: This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Home Tuition: Offers the highest level of individual attention, as the tutor focuses solely on one student. Online Tuition: Still allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Home Tuition: This tends to be more expensive because it involves one-on-one teaching, and the tutor is required to travel to your home, in Wimbledon. Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Home Tuition: Offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum, as your tutor will only be working with your child. Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Home Tuition: Offers in-person interaction, which can be beneficial for students who learn better through face-to-face communication. Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between home, online, or small group tuition in Wimbledon depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
