Reviews for Computer Science Tutors in Skegness

5.0

Andrew taught our son Samuel Computer Science online over the course of a year or so via the Teachers to Your Home resource. Sam was working towards a GCSE in the subject but was home-learning, having found the crowded and noisy school environment difficult to return to after Covid-19. Andrew is an exemplary online teacher, and fulfilled Sam's needs exactly. Even before we started Andrew was very helpful in advising on frequency of lessons, lead-in times and the different facets of the GCSE course. He was always entirely flexible with his time, willing to accommodate Sam's varying availability and quite clearly wanting to fulfil his role as a tutor exactly to suit Sam's best interests. He was very clear about the overall structure of the course and the relative value of different sections in the final examinations. It quickly became evident that he is a knowledgeable and highly experienced teacher in this field, and he provided Sam with - and guided him towards - all the necessary resources required. I sat in on some of the online lessons. Sam could be a very negative, introspective teenager, but he found Andrew's lessons informative, clear and challenging in a positive way - and, above all, stimulating. Sam might be in a glum, uncommunicative mood beforehand, but he would come out of a session feeling much more upbeat, not just about the subject and even about life in general. He found Andrew's approach well-organised, friendly and supportive, and extremely encouraging. As a result Sam decided to take the subject on to A-level, and he began to understand the value that Computer Science skills might bring to a career. Without hesitation I would highly recommend Andrew Howard as an online course tutor for students of any ability, both as home learners or for those wishing to gain extra support alongside their school or college studies. I have since even been tempted to request some Computer Science tuition from him for myself!  Richard Farnes

We are really proud and very pleased with our daughter and the grade at GCSE Computer Science that she was awarded in August 2023. Thank you for all your help and support. Your tutoring and her hard work increased her outcomes by 2 grades! Mrs Gadsden

Karl was an excellent tutor. He arrived promptly to weekly face-to-face sessions. He was very flexible with session timings and being able to accommodate extra revision sessions closer to my son's exams. Karl worked with my son on areas he needed to improve (identified from the specification/mock exams), talking through theory-related topics, lots of programming practice and went over exam technique, especially with the pseudocode-related questions. My son got a grade 7 in his GCSE Computer Science, and we are over the moon with the support Karl gave and as a tutor. My son has now opted to study A-Level Computer Science. Mrs P Sharma

Roberta has a great relationship with my 14-year-old daughter and has made such a positive difference in my daughter's studies! I would highly recommend Roberta. Mrs

Location
Home Tuition: Involves a Computer Science tutor coming to your home in Skegness to provide one-on-one instruction. This offers convenience as you don't need to travel. Online Tuition: This can take place anywhere with an internet connection. Small Group Tuition: Typically with between 2 to 4 children, and often occurs in a physical location such as your home, though it can also be online.

Individual Attention
Home Tuition: Offers the highest level of individual attention, as the Computer Science tutor focuses solely on one student. Online Tuition: Still allows for one-to-one attention, but it may be slightly less personal than home tuition due to potential distractions. Small Group Tuition: Offers less individual attention as the Computer Science tutor must divide their time and attention among multiple students.

Cost
Home Tuition: This tends to be more expensive because it involves one-on-one teaching, and the Computer Science tutor is required to travel to your home, in Skegness. Online Tuition: Often more affordable than home tuition as your Computer Science tutor does not need to travel but may still cost more than small group tuition. Small Group Tuition: Generally, this is the most cost-effective option, as the costs are shared among several families.

Flexibility
Home Tuition: Offers flexibility in terms of scheduling and curriculum, as your Computer Science tutor will only be working with your child. Online Tuition: Provides flexibility in terms of location and may offer a wider selection of Computer Science tutors. Small Group Tuition: Lessons will be more difficult to schedule as lesson times will have to fit in with other families.

Interaction
Home Tuition: Offers in-person interaction, which can be beneficial for students who learn better through face-to-face communication. Online Tuition: Provides interaction through video conferencing tools and chat, which can be engaging but may not suit everyone's learning style. Small Group Tuition: Allows for peer interaction, which can benefit collaborative learning and discussions.

The choice between home, online, or small group Computer Science tuition in Skegness depends on your preferences, budget, and the student's specific educational needs. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, so it's essential to consider these factors when deciding.
